Ok, to start off I know the calls in Game 2 were a little out there (the slash on Marchand's wrist during his breakaway, the slash call on Krug when he hit the knee pads, or the Pastrnak high stick), however, the Bruins got outplayed.
The Bruins had about 20 shots last night (sooo insane), which is crazy disgusting, but also somewhat mind-blowing because they ended up having at least two scores.
I am not going to be one of those people that storm around saying the Bruins played a horrible game, because I personally don't believe they did. The Lightning just happened to capitalize on a few bad mistakes and it cost the Bruins the game (Marchand's turnover, which led to a Bolts score, and Pastrnak's pass to McAvoy, which led to another turnover resulting in another score). All in all the B's had the opportunities to come back, they just came up short by not executing in big moments (powerplays/ turnovers).
Obviously now after a game like that, everyone is out here saying that the B's need to shoot more, which I obviously agree! However, their style of hockey is not to fling the puck at every chance they get. IF you have noticed when they do "fling" the puck it creates bad passes and more turnovers. Yes, the Bruins are obviously known for playing an aggressive game (Big Bad Bruins), but they are also a mechanics team (strong stick handling skills), which causes them to wait for proper passes (sometimes waiting too long for the perfect pass). Bottom line, I am not saying that I don't want the B's to create more shots on net, but what I DON'T want is for the Bruins to try to change their style of hockey. Every time the Bruins try to mimic another team's style, they end up doing too much, which always seems to create immediate confusion between players, causing their team to quickly crumble, forcing open goal opportunities for their opponent.
Overall, the Bruins need to continue playing their style of hockey by being aggressive BUT also need to make more adjustments when it comes to accuracy/passing (praying the turnovers don't scare them and cause them to play a safe game), and start executing plays on turnovers/powerplays or they will continue to keep getting outplayed and outscored.
Side Note: I am not very big into thinking a Super Bowl team can turn into the Browns (aka poop) after having a detrimental bad ending season/playoff game (circa 2017: Atlanta Falcons, 28- 3). BUTTT the Bruins have not made it past the second round of the playoffs since 2013 when we played the Blackhawks in Game 6, at the TD Garden when they crucified us in the last 76 seconds of the game (this still hurts). If you forgot what happened the B's were leading 2-1 with 76 seconds left... "76 seconds left, the game is ovaa" (everyone in Boston was cheering). Unfortunately, we could not have been more wrong! Within the last 76 seconds, the Blackhawks scored two back-to-back goals (within 17 seconds), giving the B's less than 1 minute to retaliate. Ultimately, the 2 goals within the 17 seconds resulted in the Blackhawks hoisting the cup in our face, to our fans, in our city. I'm not saying that this is a curse, but this has to be weighing on Tuukka everytime we enter the playoffs, right?
*B's in 6, you heard it here first!
PSA: I am very tired of hearing this Tuukka trade debate. I am absoutely not his biggest fan, but it's absurd to be livid every single time another team scores a goal. SOME of these goals are actually great shots, so relax.
