Drug Store Makeup VS. Sephora Favorites

Hey Guys!

I went to a CVS a few days ago and was trying out a few makeup products and got an idea to share Drugs Store Products vs. High End (more expensive makeup finds). Each drug store find listed is the closest you can get to the higher-end product without actually buying it, or spending nearly as much money.

Before you read, I do want to say that I don't want "recommend" one over the other because both get the job done, however, I will leave you with which one I PREFER (even though all the products below are in my daily makeup routines).

FYI: All Drugs Store finds can be found at CVS, Target, Rite Aid, or Walmart

1. Concealer

Drug Store (I PREFER - for some reason this concealer has been my go to for over 10+ years, it covers absolutely everything)

Maybelline Cover Stick Corrector Concealer (comes in a thousand shades and retails for less than $6 - I use "Light Beige")

I have been using this since high school days and I personally prefer it over "high end" products! It covers all blemishes, lightens up your under eye area if you have dark circles, and hides every imperfection (you know I have plennnnnttty). Overall the convenience of just popping into a drug store and only paying $6, will always have me sold.

Higher End

Tarte Creaseless Under Eye Concealer (comes in a million different shades and retails for $26 - I use "Light Beige")

Everyone swears by this concealer! I will agree that it gives you full coverage (over blemishes, dark spots, or red areas), doesn't leave your skin feeling super oily, and is super creamy. However, spending $26 when you are trying to save is a bit much!

2. Mascara

Drug Store

Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara (comes in waterproof or non-waterproof and retails for $4.89)

Ok to start off, I will say I still use this mascara on a regular bases! I typically only use the non-waterproof one FYI (waterproof is always a disaster for me to try to get off). BUT after I stopped getting my lashes done, I needed a mascara that would give me the volume I was looking for and this mascara absolutely reached my goals. Also, I am obsessed with how dark it makes my lashes.

Higher - End (I PREFER - I have been obsessed with this mascara ever since I first got the trial size)

This is a new favorite of mine (I believe I shared it in a few previous posts). Anyways, in one of my Sephora purchases about a year ago I got a trial size of this mascara and immediately fell in love. I am obsessed with the brush and how perfect it leaves my lashes with literally no clumps! I also want to note that this mascara has strengthening benefits in it if your lashes are damaged, and the volume it gives your lashes will make them look flawless!

3. Bronzer

Drug Store (I PREFER, I mean it's a steal and gets the job done perfectly)

Maybelline Fit Me! Set + Smooth Powder (comes in 9 shades and retails for $4.89 - I use shade "coconut")

SO about a month or two ago I picked this up, and I have been obsessed ever since. It gives you amazing coverage, is super lightweight, isn't oily, and blends seamlessly if you are using it for contouring! Bottom line, if you see great results and are not breaking out with a product that costs $5, why wouldn't you keep using it!

High End

Bobbi Brown Bronzer ( comes in 7 shades and retails for $44 - I use "golden light, light tan")

Some girls call this the holly grail of bronzers. It is completely matte, super blend-able, doesn't have a crazy shimmer, you will not look orange, and its absolutely amazing for contouring! I'm not going to lie, I absolutely love this bronzer, it's perfect if you work all day or are in the dead heat of the summer because it won't leave your face looking greasy/oily. However, its a stretch in price point so I typically on get it when Sephora is having sales!

4. Blush

Drug Store

E.L.F Blush Palette (retails for $4.99)

I purchased this blush palette about a year or so ago, and I have consistently reached for it since. Obviously it's extremely affordable, but along with that, each of the shades in this palette are pigmented, buildable, and blend into the skin naturally! Such a good find and such a good steal!

High End (I PREFER - probably one of my all time favorite products & I wish I was joking)

Kylie Cosmetics Hopeless Romantic ( comes in 5 colors and retails for $20)

First off, I did a recent blog post reviewing Kylie Cosmetic Products (read here), if you read it, you know I had 0 intentions of ever buying anything from there. However, I was tired of hearing people raving about it and needed to test it out for myself. Let me tell you, I was BLOWN away! The color is extremely pigmented, blends seamlessly, lasts such a long time, and is super creamy! Lastly, I do want to mention that I honestly thought her products would be way more expensive (especially now see how amazing they work), but they are exactly inline with Sephora prices, if not a bit cheaper.

5. Lip Stick

Drug Store (I PREFER - the color stays on amazing, doesn't crack & is super creamy)

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Lip (comes in 10+ colors and retails for $6.99)

I bought this a few weeks ago and I have been using it ever since. I tend to have dryer lips (legit always putting on chapstick), so matte lipstick can be a bit tough because sometimes the color will crack (which looks awful). Overall it is super creamy, will absolutely stay on the entire night if you are going out, isn't gloopy, and the colors are extremely vibrant!

Higher End

Mac Lipstick (there is an endless amounts of colors and each retail for $16+)

Ok, I know Mac is everyones favorite lipstick and I am not saying that it doesn't work well... BUT I legit lose everything so for me to pay close to $20 for a lipstick (that I will probably only get to use 5 times) is not for me. I will say I do own D For Danger, Instigator, & Kinda Sexy and the colors are extremely pigmented, and very creamy! Again, when Sephora, Nordstrom, or Mac are having sales these are the type of things I usually swipe up!
